Email from NYS Senate Significant Snow This Weekend   Dear Neighbor, As you may have heard, there is a high likelihood that New York City will be in the path of a big winter storm that's currently expected to hit in the early morning on Sunday, lasting into Monday. It may drop a foot or more of snow on us. I urge everyone to take the time before Sunday to make sure you are prepared, and also to check on any elderly or vulnerable neighbors who may need help getting themselves ready. Preparation includes making sure you have enough groceries to last for a few days, making sure your cell phone is charged and you have flashlights with batteries. If you have issues with heat or drafts, try to deal with those now (communicate with your landlord if possible, call 311 if not, and call my office if you need assistance). During the storm you should limit travel and time outdoors as much as possible, as we are expecting very low temperatures and high winds in addition to the snow accumulation. If you do go out, make sure to take the weather seriously and dress appropriately, and check mta.info to make sure any public transit is running. Again, check on your neighbors, and if you see someone vulnerable who needs help outside, request assistance through 311. If you lose power and have a disability, access and functional needs, or use life-sustaining equipment (LSE) and need immediate assistance, call 911.
