John,

COVID-19 remains a significant threat. We must continue to social distance, wear masks, and take precautions in our day-to-day lives. But with cases on the rise in many states, there is still no comprehensive plan to keep students and teachers safe when schools reopen in the fall.

We all want kids back in school as soon as it is safe for them to be there. As an educator, I understand just how important it is for kids to be in the classroom with their teachers and friends. But to make this happen safely, we need federal resources and investments in the health and safety of students and teachers.

That is why I’m asking you to speak out, John. Will you add your name here to support me in demanding we rely on science and the facts to reopen schools and ensure students and teachers are safe when they return to the classroom?

In Congress, I supported funding in the Heroes Act and the INVEST in America Act to help schools reopen safely – both of which are currently held up in the Senate.

We cannot continue to ask teachers to make the impossible choice of returning to the classroom and risking their lives. Local districts need federal support and the federal government must do more to provide clear, actionable guidance on safe reopening. This is something we should all agree on – a baseline investment in our children’s and teachers’ safety.

There is NOTHING extreme about wanting to keep students and teachers safe. We want kids back in school, and we want to provide the resources to do that safely.

If you’re with me, add your name here to support me as I fight for putting the facts first and reopening schools only when we have the resources and plans to do so safely.

Thank you for speaking up. Together, we make our voices heard.
