I run candidate recruitment at Contest Every Race, so I’ll be direct.

We have filing deadlines closing in five states over the next five weeks, including Ohio, Tennessee, and Maryland.

If we don’t get candidates on the ballot, we don’t just lose those races. Democrats will stay home. Organizing stalls. And communities are left without a real choice at the local level in a critical midterm year.

These are winnable seats. School boards, county commissions, sheriffs — the offices that actually shape daily life. In small towns, a few hundred votes can flip an election.

But only if a Democrat is running.

We need to recruit now so we’re not scrambling in the days before deadlines close. How many races we can contest comes down to how many people we can reach in time to file their candidacy.

That’s why I’m personally asking: Will you chip in just $5 to help us get candidates on the ballot before time runs out?
