Hi there,
Thanks so much to those of you who made it out to Greater Greater Washington's happy hour last night. We had a great turnout, and so much fun cohosting with Congress for New Urbanism's Mid-Atlantic chapter [[link removed]] .
If you weren't able to join us, make your way out to Denizens Brewing in Riverdale next Wednesday, January 28, for Maryland-oriented happy hour from 6:00–8:00 pm; sign up here [[link removed]] . Our next third-Wednesday happy hour at Sonny's will be on February 18, also from 6:00–8:00 pm; sign up here [[link removed]] .
In the meantime, here are some additional ways to get involved with Greater Greater Washington:
* We're hiring a DC organizer [[link removed]] to get candidates elected to the District's Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner seats, and wrangle them in support of pro-homes, pro-transit policy once they're serving in them. This person will work for me! If you believe in hyperlocal governance and love DC politics and the people involved, apply here [[link removed]] by Wednesday, February 11.
* If you aren't subscribed to our organizational emails, sign up [[link removed]] ! If you are, tell a friend to subscribe to our emails [[link removed]] !
* Make sure the address we have on file for you is up-to-date [[link removed]] . We're able to sort our list down to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission level and tailor the emails that we send to you, but that's only effective if we have your current address.
* Donate [[link removed]] to us—individual supporters are critical to enabling us to advocate for more housing, more affordable housing, fewer trips by car, frequent and reliable transportation, and fairer land-use practices.
* Read Do Something [[link removed]] , our weekly column, written by my colleague Dan Reed and me, about how you can think about, and take action on, housing, transportation, and land use throughout the region.
* Check our events page [[link removed]] for relevant things to do. If you're hosting an event about housing, transportation, or land use, submit it to our calendar [[link removed]] .
* Submit a pitch [[link removed]] to us! We'll work with you to edit and publish it on ggwash.org [[link removed]] .
* Add your photos of urbanist-y stuff to our Flickr pool [[link removed]] . I cannot tell you how dependent we are on the Flickr pool—pretty much everything on the blog includes at least one photo from it, because it's a such a long-running resource and because the baked-in Creative Commons licensing allows us to fairly use and credit your photography when we show it off in our posts. Plus, it's way better to illustrate the pieces we run with your great, local images than with stock photos. Anyway: Take photos, add them to the Greater and Lesser Washington Flickr.
Thank you,
Alex
