[ [link removed] ]Katie Porter for Governor
John,
When I was in Congress, I once took to the House floor to discuss
something that might sound mundane to some people: dishwashers.
As a single mom, I know a lot about dishwashers. I load and unload mine
over and over. I saved and skimped and was so proud when I got a new
dishwasher—just like so many other Californians.
At the time, Congress wanted to pass a bill about dishwashers. One of my
Republican colleagues claimed to be an expert on them, but [ [link removed] ]couldn’t
answer basic questions about how they work or how much they cost.
Despite that, Republicans wanted to have their way on the legislation.
Here’s the thing: if you want to write the rules we all have to live
by—from dishwashers to the cost of living—you should probably understand
what everyday life actually looks like for the people you represent.
Many of my opponents in this race for governor don’t. One is a billionaire
that needs a team of consultants to explain what life’s like for folks
struggling to get by. Others only care about corporate interests, and
don’t pay attention to the needs of working Californians.
I know how to handle guys like this because I spent years doing it for my
constituents in Washington. As governor, I’ll bring that same energy to
Sacramento and make sure we hold people who have no idea what it’s like to
struggle accountable.
[ [link removed] ]I’m going to need your help to beat them and stick up for the
Californians who know what it’s like to use a dishwasher. Can you chip in
$5 or more to my campaign to support our fight?
