Powered by People has spent the last few months recruiting candidates to
run for offices up and down the ballot. We’ve worked the phones, talked to
community leaders about what it’s like to run, and drove across the state
to hold in-person recruitment events at bars, in church meeting rooms, and
in community centers.
The goal? To have a Democrat on the ballot for every State House, State
Senate, and Congressional race so we compete everywhere.
Take a look at the results:
* U.S. House: Democrats filed to run for 38 out of 38 seats
* State Senate: Democrats filed to run for 16 out of 16 seats
* State House: Democrats filed to run for 150 out of 150 seats
This is unheard of in Texas. But it’s not enough to simply have a Democrat
on the ballot in every race. Now, we need to have their backs.
