The Illinois Democratic Party has officially endorsed Senator Tammy Duckworth for Vice President of the United States of America.

It’s no surprise the state party is calling for their junior senator -- only the second AAPI to ever serve in the U.S. Senate -- to be the first woman VP. Duckworth is a decorated war hero and has served in both the House and the Senate -- giving her the leadership experience needed to help get our country back on the right track.

But while 72% percent of Democrats have said it’s important for Joe Biden to pick a woman of color as his running mate, Duckworth’s candidacy is still fighting to gain traction compared to some of the other names on Biden’s shortlist.
