Our country is currently under siege from the federal government in a lawless, militarized ICE operation that is daily violating the constitutional rights of people throughout our country. Minnesota may be ground zero at the moment, but ICE is ramping up in California too, and if we don't act now, this will become the blueprint for every community in America.

We need you to take action right now.

Congress is about to vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security, and we need them to hear from us immediately: Not one more dollar for ICE.

Here's what you need to do:

- Call your representative in Congress <[link removed]> today and demand they suspend ICE funding. For Democrats, you should tell them to do everything in their power to stop this, to “go to the wall” per say. For Republicans, hold them accountable for sitting back while masked, armed, domestic militia is harassing, abusing and violating the constitutional rights of Americans.
- Send an email to your representative <[link removed]> as well (we’ve written a template for you)

Why this matters right now:

Over 4,000 ICE and CBP agents are currently occupying the Twin Cities—a militarized force five times more concentrated than what previous cities have faced. That means there is no escaping them. A drive to the store? ICE. Walking your kid to school? ICE. Trying to go to Walgreens? ICE. They have gone door to door. They stake out schools. They have tried to invade daycares. They hover around bus stops. They stage in Target and Home Depots. They have set up checkpoints on interstates to ask for identification. 

And just days ago, Nicole Renee Good was murdered by an ICE agent—shot in the face and chest four times after dropping her child off at school. 

But here's the truth: people are fighting back.

Minnesotans have built an extraordinary network of legal observers, neighborhood teams, labor unions, and faith communities defending their communities. On January 23rd, over 120 organizations are staging "ICE OUT: A Day of Truth and Freedom"—a day of no work, no school, no shopping, and mass direct action in downtown Minneapolis.

Now Congress must do its job.

Our representatives have the constitutional power to check this executive overreach. Democrats need to go to the wall on the upcoming DHS funding bill. Republicans need to be held accountable for enabling masked, armed agents to harass and violate Americans' constitutional rights.

Nuestro país se encuentra actualmente bajo asedio por parte del gobierno federal, a través de la operación ilegal y militarizada del ICE la cual viola a diario los derechos constitucionales de las personas en todo el país. Si bien Minnesota es el epicentro en este momento, el ICE también está intensificando sus operaciones en California, y si no doblamos nuestros esfuerzos ahora, estos abusos se convertirán en la “nueva realidad” para todas las comunidades en los Estados Unidos.

Hay que actuar con urgencia, hoy mismo.

El Congreso Nacional está a punto de votar y dar más financiación al Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS por sus siglas en inglés).  Hay que hacer que nuestras voces sean escuchadas de inmediato y exigir que: ¡Ni un dólar más para el ICE!

Esto es lo que deben hacer:

- Llame hoy mismo a su representante en el Congreso <[link removed](en|es)> y exige un voto NO a la financiación de ICE. Si su representante es demócrata, dígale que haga todo lo que esté a su alcance para detener esto, y que luche con todas sus fuerzas. Si es republicano, condene su inacción e indiferencia ante las milicias armadas y enmascaradas que acosan, abusan y violan los derechos constitucionales de todas las personas en nuestras comunidades.

Por qué es importante que accione hoy mismo:

Hay más de 4000 agentes de ICE y CBP actualmente desplegados en las ciudades de Minneapolis y Saint Paul, en el estado de Minnesota, esta es una fuerza semi-militar cinco veces mayor, mucho más numerosa que la que se ha visto en otras ciudades. En Minnesota ¿Vas a la tienda? ICE esta ahi. ¿Llevas a tu hijo a la escuela? ICE esta ahi. ¿Intentas ir al Walgreens? ICE está ahi. Estos agentes van de puerta en puerta, vigilan escuelas para arrestar gente. Han intentado entrar en guarderías. Merodean por las paradas de autobús y en tiendas como Target y Home Depot. Han instalado puestos de control en las autopistas para pedir identificaciones a cualquier conductor usando el perfil racial como unica razon para realizar estos actos horrendos..

Y hace solo unos días, la señora Nicole Renee Good fue asesinada por un agente de ICE: recibió cuatro disparos en la cara y el pecho después de dejar a su hijo en la escuela.

Pero esta es la verdad: la gente se está defendiendo y no se dejan.

Los habitantes de Minnesota han creado una red extraordinaria de observadores legales, equipos vecinales, y muchos sindicatos y comunidades religiosas están defiendo a sus comunidades. Este 23 de enero, más de 120 organizaciones organizan una mega acción el  "ICE OUT: Un Día de Verdad y Libertad", un día sin trabajo, sin escuela, sin compras y con acciones directas masivas en el centro de Minneapolis.

Ahora el Congreso debe cumplir con su deber.

Nuestros representantes en el Congreso Nacional tienen el poder constitucional para frenar este abuso de poder a manos de la administración Trump. Los demócratas deben usar todo su poder y detener el próximo proyecto de ley de financiación del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS). Los republicanos deben rendir cuentas por permitir que agentes enmascarados y armados acosen y violen los derechos constitucionales de los estadounidenses.
