I called my opponent Raja Krishnamoorthi out.
He voted to thank ICE after they began horrific raids in our Chicago communities — so I called him out.
He accepted tens of thousands of dollars from a Palantir executive tied directly to ICE’s deportation machine — so I called him out.
He then tried to score political points by half-heartedly claiming he wanted to end “Trump’s ICE,” only to walk those comments back on national television — so I called him out.
Now, he wants to say that holding him accountable is “why people hate politics.”
Let me be clear: Holding lawmakers accountable is not why people hate politics.
What people hate is politicians who campaign on one thing and vote another way.
They hate lawmakers who sit comfortably in Washington and refuse to fight for the people they represent.
They hate politicians who are bankrolled by corporate PACs and special interests — then pretend it doesn’t influence their decisions.
That is not the kind of campaign I am running — and it's not the kind of leader I will be.
I’m in this fight for the people of Illinois. We’re running an honest campaign, powered by grassroots supporters — not corporate PACs. And I’m running for the U.S. Senate to fight for working families, just as I have every day during my six years as Lieutenant Governor.
But moments like this matter. We have to show my opponent the strength of a people-powered campaign that refuses to be intimidated or bought.
So I need to know you’re with me.
