The Center’s 2025 Year in Review

On Monday, January 19th, Center Advocacy Manager Lori Haas co-hosted the 34th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Vigil outside the Capitol in Richmond, Virginia. She was joined by Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashimi, Attorney General Jay Jones, Senator Jennifer Boysko, victims of gun violence and other community leaders to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to remember those harmed by gun violence across the nation. Speakers highlighted ongoing legislative efforts to help prevent future gun violence in Virginia.

Virginia is positioned to make major progress in combatting gun violence this legislative session. The Center is supporting a host of measures including:

  • Firearm Purchaser Licensing
  • Requiring the safe storage of firearms in both homes and cars Improving the state’s domestic violence protections including a firearm relinquishment law and a measure that closes the so-called “boyfriend loophole”
