That's what Brooke Rollins thinks is appropriate for Americans to eat for dinner.

Eugene Vindman for Congress

John,

It’s been just over a year since Donald Trump took office — and for millions of Americans, the cost of living keeps climbing. Especially at the grocery store.

So when Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, was asked about rising food prices, you might have expected some urgency. Some understanding. Some accountability.

Instead, this is what she said American families should eat for dinner:

“A piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and one other thing.”

She went on to claim that the meal costs about $3.

In other words, this administration doesn’t think high food prices are a real problem. They think families should just eat less — and be grateful for it.

My family ate like this in Soviet Ukraine. This is shameful — and it is not the American way.

People deserve more than a bare-bones meal while billionaires and corporations rake in record profits. Parents shouldn’t have to ration dinner while this administration pretends everything is affordable.

And here’s the kicker: This is the same Secretary who couldn’t tell me how much the daily SNAP benefit actually is a few months ago. It’s $6.20 — barely enough to cover even the inadequate meal she described – and certainly not enough to feed your whole family.

Instead of owning their failures, the Trump administration is gaslighting the American people. Grocery prices are still rising, yet they insist nothing is wrong and families should just make do.

Enough is enough.

I’m holding Trump and MAGA Republicans accountable in Congress — fighting to lower costs, protect health care, and make sure working families can actually get ahead.

But this fight isn’t easy. Trump and his MAGA allies are doing everything they can to push me out of Congress and stop me from speaking out. They’ve even launched an investigation into me to silence me.

So if you’re able, please support my campaign today to help keep me in Congress fighting for you. Any amount makes a real difference.

Thank you for standing with me. We’re not going to let Trump and Rollins get away with this.
