![]() Today is the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Now, we live in a post-Roe world. After decades of deliberate distortion, we are a country where girls and women have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers. Right-wing extremists lied that life under Roe was lawless — "abortion on demand" or "abortion right up until the moment of birth.” None of it was true. When Roe was the law, all had control over their own bodies; all had confidence that if something tragic happened to their baby, their family wouldn't lose both of them; and all could be sure their medical decisions were their business — between patients and doctors. Today, under Dobbs, those protections are gone. Abortion bans no longer have to include exceptions — even to save a woman’s life. The consequences are already clear: women are criminalized, abortion is treated as homicide, and women die. Reproductive freedom is not the business of politicians. The fight continues to ensure that every woman has the right to safe and legal abortion.
