Call for Speakers: Wisconsin Substance Use Summit
The Wisconsin Substance Use Summit is August 5-6, 2026.
The planning committee for this event is accepting proposals for presentations and interactive workshops on topics related to substance use prevention, overdose prevention, substance use treatment, and substance use recovery supports for all substances that will engage, educate, and equip people with new knowledge and skills, including step-by-step processes to implement concepts or practices.
Proposals from individual speakers or a group of speakers are welcome.
Topics of interest
Special consideration will be given to proposals that address any or all of the following topics:
- Cross-cutting foundations: assessment, data literacy, planning, implementation, evaluation, sustainability
- Engaging people with lived/living experience in program planning, design and/or implementation
- Emerging and polysubstance use trends
- Stigma reduction initiatives
- Prevention fundamentals (coalition building, Strategic Prevention Framework, logic models, community organizing, ethics, youth and family engagement, prevention within family systems and early childhood, evidence-based practices, etc.)
- Addressing access, availability, affordability, and attractiveness of substances
- Environmental strategies, policy efforts, adult and youth advocacy, advocacy versus lobbying
- Overdose prevention and compassionate overdose/overamping response (including but not limited to drug checking technology advances, naloxone distribution strategies, leave behind programs, etc.)
- Adolescent substance use treatment and recovery services and supports (treating and supporting youth within the family context and family systems, addressing substance use disorder needs in a mental health treatment context)
- Treatment services, programs, and practices for alcohol, stimulant, opioid, and polysubstance use disorders
- Innovative partnerships or practices for prevention, overdose prevention efforts, wrap around treatment services, or person-centered recovery supports

Session proposals must be submitted by February 4, 2026.
Selected speakers will be notified by email no later than February 28, 2026.
