DC Jobs With Justice is standing in solidarity with the more than 2,200 nurses at MedStar Washington Hospital Center who are fighting for dignity on the job and quality care for our community.

Represented by National Nurses United (NNU), these nurses show up every day to care for our neighbors in their most vulnerable moments. Yet MedStar management has failed to do right by them. Nurses are currently fighting for a fair contract and to recover wages they have already earned but were never paid.

A formal investigation by DC's Office of the Attorney General has been launched into systemic wage theft at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The claims of management misconduct are deeply concerning, including:

• Manual falsification of digital time records in the Emergency Department to avoid paying nurses for missed breaks
• Incorrect and delayed pay for nurses in the Operating Room
• A workplace culture that pressures nurses across the hospital to work off the clock

No healthcare worker should have to fight to be paid for their labor. Wage theft is illegal, immoral, and undermines patient care.

Demand that MedStar leadership:

• Immediately end all wage theft and time record falsification
• Pay nurses every dollar of back wages they are owed
• Sign a fair contract that protects worker rights and ensures safe staffing

When nurses are respected and paid fairly, our entire community benefits. MedStar needs to hear clearly that DC is watching and that we stand with healthcare workers.
