Hello,

Last year marked the 60th anniversary of the passage of the Voting Rights Act
of 1965 — one of the voting rights movement's most significant achievements.

President Lyndon B. Johnson stood alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and
civil rights leaders when he signed it into law. This landmark legislation
prohibited racial discrimination at the ballot box during the era of Jim Crow
laws and expanded voting rights for millions of Americans.

Since then, the Supreme Court has gutted and weakened the VRA. In October,
SCOTUS justices heard arguments inLouisiana v. Callais, a case that will decide
whether Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) protections is constitutional
in Louisiana’s redistricting map.

We’re calling on Congress to carry on MLK's legacy by restoring our voting
protections under the VRA. Join us in demanding Congress take action and pass
the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act now →

If passed, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would reinstate
voter protections, end partisan gerrymandering, implement same day voter
registration nationwide, establish Election Day as a federal holiday, and so
much more.

Thanks for raising your voices and taking action.

— Voting Rights Fund

Voting Rights Fund wasn’t created just to defend voting rights — we elect the
leaders who will expand and protect them. Our aim is to keep our operational
costs as low as possible, so a majority of our funds go toward doing the work
that needs to be done. That means building a national bench of lawmakers who
will fight tooth and nail to expand access to the ballot box and protect our
right to vote at every level of government.
