<[link removed]>Hi Friend,
Today's Taxpayers' Union-Curia Poll <[link removed]> confirms, yet again, that the prospects of a change in Government this year are a real possibility. When the recent mainstream polls are averaged out, it’s a statistical tie – with the two blocs neck-and-neck.
Just a few percentage points — or an MMP Māori Party overhang — is all it would take for a Labour-led Government propped up by the Greens and Te Pāti Māori.
And we’re already seeing what that would mean.
Despite previously ruling it out, Chris Hipkins has caved to pressure from his own left wing and announced a Capital Gains Tax policy.
But that’s only the start.
The Greens are explicit: their tax agenda alone would cost $88 billion — around $45,000 per household.
And Te Pāti Māori? They want to tear up the principle of one person, one vote. They opposed Three Waters not because it went too far — but because it didn’t go far enough.
With the polls this tight, a single scandal, a single campaign, or a single popular issue could decide who forms the next Government. That’s far too close for comfort — and exactly why we’re asking our most committed supporters to step up now, so we can get to work. <[link removed]>
A radical Labour–Green–Te Pāti Māori Government would punish savings, investment, and aspiration at the exact moment New Zealand needs growth and stability.
Just as we hold the current Government to account, it’s the Taxpayers’ Union’s job to hold potential governments to account too.
But we can only do that with your support. <[link removed]>
Only with a campaign war chest can we run the campaigns needed to remind Kiwi voters how, under Chris Hipkins’ last term, New Zealand slid into economic trouble and doubled down on undemocratic notions of so-called “co-governance”.

Subject: Election set for 7 November – but the fight starts right now
Dear Friend,
It’s now official.
The Prime Minister has just confirmed the 2026 General Election will be held on Saturday, 7 November.
The announcement means the fight for New Zealand’s future starts today.
The polls show the same thing: this election will be decided on a knife-edge. A handful of seats. A small shift in public opinion. A few months where the narrative is either challenged – or allowed to harden.
And right now, the danger is clear.
There has not been a single mainstream poll in the last two years showing Chris Hipkins returning to power without being completely dependent on the Greens and Te Pāti Māori.
That would be the most radical government in our lifetime. It would be a government forced to trade policy, spending, and democratic principles for coalition survival.
You’ve already seen what that looks like.
If you thought Nanaia Mahuta's Three Waters 'co-governance' was bad, imagine what Chris Hipkins will need to cook up to keep Te Pāti Māori happy!
Higher taxes. Radical co-governance entrenched. Economic growth sacrificed.
Make no mistake, this is the real risk New Zealand faces in November.
That’s why I’m asking you today to fund the fight that must happen before the formal campaign begins. <[link removed]>
Your donation to the Election Year Taxpayers’ Fighting Fund allows the Taxpayers’ Union to act now — when it matters most — by:
- Challenging bad ideas before they become accepted truth
- Forcing the debate the media too often avoids
- Putting real economic and democratic consequences in front of voters early
- Making sure New Zealanders understand what's at stake
If we wait until the official campaign period, it will be too late. By then, positions are locked in, excuses are made, and dangerous ideas are already normalised.
This entire year must be treated as a full time campaign — and that can only happen if supporters like you and me step up with our support. <[link removed]>
What happens between today and 7 November will shape New Zealand for decades. Whether we rebuild a strong, first-world economy. Whether we remain a first-world democracy where citizens are treated equally — or slide further down a path that divides, weakens, and undercuts our kids' prosperity.
Friend, can I count on you to help fund the campaigns needed to educate voters, challenge the radical agenda, and stop a Labour-Green-Te Pāti Māori coalition before it’s too late? <[link removed]>
