Governor Ron DeSantis's recent announcement that Florida will hold a special legislative session on redistricting in April confirms what we already knew: The White House and its allies are going to do everything in their power to rig the outcome of the midterm elections this fall.
But new polling shows how deeply unpopular a mid-decade redraw is among Floridians: 55% of registered voters in the state oppose any effort to redraw their map mid-decade.
The move is not just unpopular with Democrats and Independents. In fact, more Republicans oppose this plan than support it.
Still, no matter how dismally this power grab lands with voters, Trump, DeSantis, and their allies are not going to give up. They’re hellbent on manipulating congressional maps to their benefit because they know they can’t win any other way. It’s up to us — all of us — to stop them.
