America250 Kick-Off

I had a great time at the America250 Kick-Off event at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge last Friday. Each time I stand at Valley Forge, I’m reminded of the foundational values of our nation: true liberty and justice for all, a republic based on representative democracy, civic engagement, due process and unalienable rights. All of these are values that form the bedrock of our nation, and I can’t wait to continue the celebration of the 250th across Montgomery County this year.

It was cold this morning, but coffee helped warm us up as we celebrated the official grand opening of 7Brew Coffee in Collegeville! I was honored to attend, help cut the ribbon and present the staff with a citation of congratulations.

Welcoming new businesses into our community is an exciting milestone, and I wish them continued success!

Legislation Update

Representative Jacklyn Rusnock’s House Bill 1718, of which I’m a proud co-sponsor, was recently referred to the House Insurance Committee. This bill will require insurance companies offering or issuing homeowner’s insurance policies to notify a homeowner of the availability and pricing of flood insurance and require that an annual notice be given.

Currently, many homeowners who reside outside of designated flood zones are unaware that their property is still at risk or that their current homeowner’s insurance may not include flood insurance. This legislation looks to bridge that gap and is one way we can increase Pennsylvania’s readiness for potential flood events and ensure homeowners are informed and able to protect their property.
