Yesterday marked one year since the start of Donald Trump's second term in office. There’s no doubt: this last year under the Trump administration has been a disaster for Coloradans. Trump promised to lower prices on day one. Instead, he raised health care costs by thousands of dollars, took away food assistance from working families, and tried to sell off our public lands to pave the way for massive tax cuts for billionaires. He’s pushed reckless tariffs that have only driven up costs for folks across the country and made it harder for small businesses to stay afloat. And he’s attacked our state for refusing to cower to his demands: dismantling the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), vetoing a bipartisan bill that would bring clean water to 50,000 rural Coloradans, and threatening to cut child care services and resources for the most vulnerable families. Through all of the chaos, we’ve made it clear: Colorado won’t be intimidated by a bully in the White House. We’re committed to protecting Colorado and standing up against Trump’s dangerous agenda. We defeated their reckless attempt to sell our public lands. We’re fighting to save millions of Americans’ health care, safeguard abortion rights, protect our environment, and lower costs for hardworking families — our work isn’t done.
