The road to defeating Citizens United starts in Montana.

Today is the 16th anniversary of the disastrous Supreme Court ruling that has allowed the ultra-wealthy to buy influence in our elections, almost entirely unchecked, with no way to fight back through campaign finance reform.

That’s why, instead, we’re using two centuries of Supreme Court precedent on corporate law to revoke corporations' political spending powers as non-human entities.

We’re working on this strategy here in Montana as a ballot initiative, which means the people would be able to enshrine these rights in our state constitution in 2026 and become the legal blueprint for other states to do the same. We’re already fielding calls from people who want to do this in other states, so any of them could be next!

Right now, we’re going through the legal process to qualify for the ballot. Soon after that, we’ll start collecting 100,000 signatures across the state from people who want to curb corporate influence on our politics and end the dark money loophole for good.

This first-of-its-kind legal strategy is already grabbing national headlines, but it’s up to us to keep our momentum going strong — especially as we work to overcome our first challenge in court.
