You can push back even harder against the feds’ gun confiscation.

After the failure of its Cape Breton pilot project, the federal government is pushing forward its plan to confiscate guns from licensed firearm owners nationally.

This program has the potential to be one of the biggest boondoggles taxpayers have ever seen.

Independent estimates say the whole scheme could cost taxpayers more than $6 billion.

Meanwhile, law-enforcement experts say it won’t do anything to make Canadians safer.

The union representing RCMP members says Ottawa’s scheme “diverts extremely important personnel, resources, and funding away from addressing the more immediate and growing threat of criminal use of illegal firearms.”

That’s why all taxpayers, not just firearm owners, should be concerned about the cost of this useless program. Licensed firearm owners are not the problem. It’s criminals. And this scheme does nothing to stop criminals.

Every dollar wasted on the confiscation is a dollar that can’t be used to stop the real problem of illegal guns.

Everyone wants to make Canada safer, but that can’t happen until Ottawa scraps this boondoggle and focuses on the real problem of criminals with illegal guns.

I’m a firearms owner and every time I go to the range with my guns, the number one word is safety. We should always be trying to make Canada a safer place, but spending taxpayers’ money to confiscate guns from law-abiding Canadians is not the way to do it.
