People are drawn to the Boundary Waters Wilderness because of its million acres of wildlands, 1,000 pristine lakes and streams, 1,500 miles of canoe routes, and unlimited opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, the sulfide-ore mining industry's plans could pollute these remote Minnesota lands and waters. 

The Trump Administration and its allies in Congress are attempting to enable Twin Metals, a subsidiary of a Chilean mining conglomerate, to industrialize areas along the lakes and streams that flow into the wilderness. This threatens public lands, clean water, and downstream communities. 

Toxic sulfide-ore mining could forever pollute this area, which is why the Biden administration put a 20-year ban in place -- to safeguard clean water, wildlife habitat, wilderness values, cultural resources, and recreation opportunities. We have to speak up NOW before Congress votes on this resolution later today. Send a message to your Representative telling them to vote NO!

Sulfide mining releases a toxic mix of sulfuric acid and heavy metals. It is unacceptably risky in the water-rich environment of Northeastern Minnesota, where it could contaminate rivers and groundwater for hundreds of years.
