Right now, Ground Game Texas is in the most decisive phase of this work: the signature collection phase. This is the narrow window that determines whether these campaigns qualify for the November ballot — and whether we succeed in expanding the electorate in communities that have been historically ignored, under-resourced, or pushed out of the political process.
Over the next several weeks, we are onboarding more than 100 local workers to collect signatures and IDs from community members across Houston and Brownsville. This work is happening block by block, at festivals, community events, and public gathering spaces — and it must be fully resourced right now.
If we fail to qualify for the ballot, we don’t just lose a policy fight. We lose a powerful opportunity to bring tens of thousands of new and infrequent voters into the democratic process in key areas of Texas.
