Herbert, my daughter, Ella, just turned one!
|
| Me, Ella, and my husband, Jake, on Ella’s birthday |
As I’ve been reflecting on the past year, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
I truly couldn’t be more grateful for the outpouring of support I’ve received since I launched this campaign against MAGA Republican Paul LePage.
Running for office was never my plan. Especially with a baby.
But once Ella was born, one thing became clear — I couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer and watch Donald Trump and his MAGA Majority tear her future to shreds.
So, I made a very difficult decision and jumped in the race to take back our House Majority for Democrats.
Running for office as a brand-new father has been deeply rewarding, but it’s tough. Especially when every day, my opponent’s supporters hurl insults like these at me:
“Maine doesn't want or need a homosexual to represent it”
“We must ban this homo parenting shit asap.”
“We’re going to… take baby Ella away from you and give her to a real family”
On those long, hard days on the campaign trail, two things keep me going:
My fight to ensure Ella, and every child, has a better future than the world they were born into.
And knowing that supporters like you share my vision, have my back, and are fighting for that future, too.
So, whether you’ve been a supporter since day one, or whether this is the first email you’ve read from me, thank you, Herbert, for standing with me. I really, truly mean it.
One more thing before I go, Herbert. I cannot believe how far your support has taken me already, but there’s something I need to ask you if we’re going to make it over the finish line and bring this win home: Will you chip in any donation you can to keep this campaign firing on all cylinders? My MAGA opponent has a massive stockpile of cash from his special interest donors and Super PACS, but I’m relying entirely on grassroots supporters like you. In a race this close, it’ll be those $25, $10, and even $1 donations that make or break our odds to clinch this critical seat and reclaim our House Majority. If just $1 — for Ella’s first birthday — is all you can spare, it’ll go so much further than you know. >>
In this fight together,
Jordan
