There's been a number of litigation developments, as well as a new sweeping halt to immigration visas for residents of 75 countries. -
HHS: The court imposed a temporary (14 day) halt on the Administration for Children and Families' efforts to illegally freeze $10 billion in child care, TANF and SSBG funding for five blue states, asserting allegations of fraud and access by ineligible immigrants.
-
USDA: Another court provided a temporary restraining order preventing USDA from cutting off SNAP funds to Minnesota for failure to meet their demand for immediate recertification of all SNAP cases in select counties. And the states that had previously received a preliminary injunction in the SNAP data sharing case asked the court to enforce it, as USDA renewed its demand for six years of recipient and applicant data.
- State Department (Other): The State Department announced a stop to process of all immigrant visas for residents of 75 countries, claiming (with no evidence) that the residents of these countries are more likely to become public charges.
