[link removed] [[link removed]] John,A year ago, one of President Trump’s first acts of his second term was to grant sweeping pardons and commutations for over 1,500 January 6th rioters.
It’s hard to overstate how devastating and destructive these January 6 pardons and sentence commutations were.
What happened on January 6th was a horrifying attack on our democracy. A violent mob stormed the Capitol in an attempt to install into power by force the loser of a popular election. More than 100 Capitol Police officers were injured, in addition to dozens of DC Metropolitan Police officers, five of whom died in the days following the attack.
Thousands of these insurrectionists were convicted of criminal offenses after trials with ample evidence. But despite all that, Trump granted them sweeping clemency.
John, Donald Trump incited an insurrection after he lost the 2020 election. He is a convicted felon and the most corrupt president in history.
No matter how he tries to spin it, the fact remains: the president is an insurrectionist and a threat to our democracy. He must be held accountable.
CREW is on the frontlines of protecting our democracy and fighting to hold Trump and everyone who had a hand in the January 6th insurrection accountable. If you’re with us, please donate today to help us keep up this important fight → → [[link removed]]

By issuing sweeping pardons to these insurrectionists, Trump didn’t just wipe away accountability, he put public safety at risk.
At least 33 of those pardoned for their roles in the January 6th attack have been rearrested, charged or sentenced for other crimes since January 6, 2021.
These crimes range from sexual assault to illegal possession of weapons to possession of child pornography to driving while impaired or under the influence to rape.
These crimes underscore the threat posed by Trump's decision to forego long-established DOJ process and grant blanket, day-one pardons and commutations to insurrectionists.
Nevertheless, some pardoned insurrectionists, including those charged with unrelated crimes, have been embraced by the GOP establishment. One was invited to the White House and another serves on a Virginia school board.
Donald Trump’s actions sent a clear message: supporting him is more important than following the law.
These pardons and lack of accountability are dangerous for both our democracy and public safety.
One year after returning to office, Trump has shown exactly why letting an oath-breaking insurrectionist regain power threatens our democracy. CREW has been on the frontlines fighting back from day one—and we will continue our work to hold him accountable.
