Hi John,
The coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — 1.56 million acres of tundra, braided rivers, and wetlands — is where polar bears den, millions of migratory birds return to nest, and the Porcupine caribou herd births their young each year.
The Trump administration wants to hand every inch of this landscape to Big Oil. We can't let that happen.
So the Center for Biological Diversity just took legal action to keep this biodiversity hotspot free of oil rigs and gas pipes.
Please stand with us by giving today to the Future for the Wild Fund.
The first Trump administration opened up the entire coastal plain to lease sales in 2020. On Jan. 6, 2021, it auctioned off this land to oil and gas companies.
On Biden's first day in office, a moratorium was imposed and our legal actions have so far kept Big Oil out.
But the fossil fuel industry and the politicians who do its bidding have long had the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in their sights.
Now Trump has doubled down on his plan to sell off these public lands — and our imperiled species and teetering climate will pay the price.
The Center and allies went back to court to stop the destruction. This critical fight is one we're ready to take on, and we know the American people are on our side.
By opening up the coastal plain of the refuge to oil and gas development, Trump and his crew of public land destroyers are threatening one of our country's last great intact wild areas.
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge mustn't be turned into an oilfield. Once this precious landscape is in industry hands, it could be lost to the wild forever.
We've been on guard keeping the oil industry out of this refuge for decades.
Saving species and the habitat they need to survive is why the Center exists — and we won't stop.
Because threats to wildlife and public lands are ongoing, we need you for the long haul. Please start a monthly donation to sustain our defense.
For the wild,
