We also have a series of important primaries coming up on August 4th between progressives we know we can count on and corporate Democrats who are beholden to special interests who view our government as a tool to be manipulated to increase corporate profits.
In Michigan, “Squad” member and progressive champion Rashida Tlaib has received very little support from the Democratic Party because she’s not afraid to speak truth to power. Her corporate-backed opponent is beholden to the real estate industry (their largest contributor) and was forced to return contributions from large banks looking for favors.
In Missouri, nurse and community activist Cori Bush is up against party establishment favorite Lacy Clay — whose family has held the Congressional seat for 50 years. Unlike Lacy, we can count on Cori Bush to stand up to corporate power and demand health care as a human right for all Americans.
And in Washington, Rebecca Parson is running to take down Derek Kilmer, one of the most conservative members of the House. Rebecca is a tenant organizer who has fought for renter protections in her district, while Derek has publicly signed on in support of cuts to Social Security and is heavily funded by contributions from the real estate industry — even as Washington suffers from an affordable housing crisis.
All of these elections are just nine days away, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help our progressive allies win. Chip in here to help progressives keep up our momentum from New York and Texas and have another big day of primary wins on August 4th!
