It’s been a year since Donald Trump took the oath of office.

He’s spent the majority of that year not bringing down costs, protecting health care, or reducing government spending, but abusing the awesome power of the Oval Office to punish his long, long list of enemies. I know because I’m on it.

I'm on it because I served on the January 6th Committee. Democrats serving in the House, Senate, or as Governors, along with millions of Americans whose only “crime” is residing in a blue state, are on that list, too.

His administration has shut down life-saving programs and stolen millions in Congressionally-sanctioned federal funding. They’ve tried every tactic in the book to intimidate and punish anyone who opposes Donald Trump.

John, Virginia may be a blue state after November’s victories, but we will not be collateral damage of a presidential temper tantrum. Not on my watch.

I’m confident that my friend Governor Spanberger will do whatever’s necessary to defend Virginia families, but we have to go further. We need aggressive Congressional oversight to neutralize the problem at the source.
