Email from Defend Our Courts John, The first big race of 2026 for Democrats isn’t a congressional or senate race, it's a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat that is up for grabs in April. Trump has been conducting a full-on assault of state Supreme Courts across the country in his second term. First, he used Elon Musk’s cash to try and buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court last Spring. Then later that year, he attempted a takeover of the PA Supreme Court. Stopping Trump from stacking state Supreme Courts is paramount. These courts decide election laws and even outcomes. If MAGA captures them, Trump can rig elections, lock in one-party rule, and clear the path to a third term. MAGA’s WI Supreme Court candidate for the April election, Maria Lazar, shows Trump’s endgame:     MAGA’s handpicked WI Supreme Court judge hopeful not only has ties to election deniers, she’s touting their support. Jim Troupis and Michael Gableman were both instrumental in pushing the “big lie” after Trump lost the 2020 election, spearheading efforts for the Trump legal team to try and overturn the election results in Wisconsin. Troupis was also involved in the fake elector scheme for Wisconsin, which he was later indicted for on a felony charge. In November, Donald Trump issued a pardon for him. If these are the types of people Lazar openly touts the support of, we know exactly what she would do if a decision that could sway an election in MAGA’s direction landed in her lap as a WI Supreme Court judge. Lazar must be defeated. Defend Our Courts is gearing up to make a big impact in this. After our huge success in helping protect the PA Supreme Court in November, we are expanding nationwide.
