We’ve experienced one year of remarkable wins — yet there is so much more to accomplish.

As President Trump continues working for the American people and delivering on his promises, our Republican-led Congress must follow suit by building upon this successful foundation. From codifying President Trump’s victorious executive actions to advancing more of his bold, America First policies, I remain committed to working with the Trump Administration to secure additional wins for Northeast Georgia workers, families, and small businesses.

This year, I was honored to nominate 16 students from throughout the Ninth District. Each and every nominee possesses remarkable leadership, intellect, and resilience. These patriotic young Georgians epitomize the best of what America has to offer, and I am confident that they will make the Ninth District proud in their future endeavors.

As a Navy combat veteran, I deeply appreciate the opportunity to assist young Georgians in their journey to military service. That’s why I’m excited to announce that next month, in partnership with Reps. Chuck Edwards (NC-11) and Sheri Biggs (SC-03), I’m hosting Blue Ridge Service Academy Day — an informative event designed to help Ninth District students and their families learn about the five U.S. Service Academies and the congressional nomination process.

Receiving a nomination to one of our nation’s prestigious military academies is a high honor, and I am proud to help support and navigate folks through this exciting opportunity. I highly encourage all students who are interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy to attend our Blue Ridge Service Academy Day event to gain key insight into the congressional nomination process. In the spirit of U.S. Service Academy nomination updates, I’d like to highlight a student who earned a congressional nomination and appointment during the 2024 cycle: Vince Lamour-Johnson. Now a sophomore studying Cyber Science and French at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Vince is gaining invaluable experience and developing key skills for his future service. He recently shared his remarkable progress with me, including that he has been a member of the prestigious Martinson Honor Program since the beginning of his freshman year. Vince also earned a place on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll during his second semester and recently completed the intensive three-week Azimuth Space Program.

I was honored to nominate Vince for appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy two years ago, and I’m deeply proud of his accomplishments thus far. Please join me in wishing him continued success!

This week, House lawmakers are in Washington to advance the final four appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2026. Additionally, we will consider the following pieces of legislation:

• H.R. 6359, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act: This legislation requires universities and higher education institutions to communicate and distribute information informing pregnant students of their rights, accommodations, and resources available to them.
• H.R. 6945, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act: This critical bill prevents the Secretary of Health and Human Services from restricting funding for pregnancy centers that serve new mothers and families that choose life.
• H.J. Res. 140: This joint resolution of disapproval overturns Public Land Order No. 7917, which implemented a mineral withdrawal of approximately 225,504 acres, banning mining and other resource extraction in Northern Minnesota and putting our nation’s mineral security at risk.
