Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
ADVANCING NATIONAL SECURITY THROUGH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Last week, in the House Science Committee, we held hearings focused on strengthening national security through emerging technology.
As Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee, I led a hearing on NOAA’s weather satellites and their critical role in military operations, disaster response, and mission planning. Reliable and accurate weather satellite data is essential to protecting lives and staying ahead of evolving threats.
I also participated in a House Science Research & Technology Subcommittee hearing on artificial intelligence, where we examined how Congress can support innovation while ensuring the U.S. remains competitive and secure.
STRENGTHENING SECURITY WHILE REINING IN SPENDING
With key funding deadlines approaching, the House passed a package of FY26 appropriations bills to keep the government operating while advancing critical national security priorities.
The Financial Services and General Government bill protects taxpayers and modernizes federal operations by improving IRS service, cracking down on fraud, strengthening cybersecurity, supporting small businesses, and increasing congressional oversight.
The National Security and State bill reduces spending from last year while continuing to support key allies, strengthen embassy security, combat fentanyl trafficking, and push back against adversaries.
LISTENING, LEARNING, AND LEADING ACROSS FL-18

Telephone town halls are one of the most effective ways to hear directly from constituents across FL-18. Last week, our call connected 53 towns and all eight counties at once, allowing thousands of Floridians to participate in a real time conversation.
We hold these calls regularly to share updates, answer questions, and make sure your voice is heard. During the most recent town hall, we discussed a wide range of issues including Venezuela, federal spending, border enforcement and ICE, rogue judges, constituent casework, and veterans’ services.
