It's been one year since President Trump took office, and we won't sugarcoat it: it's been tough. Our system of checks and balances is under assault, even as the people in power are profiting. 

Despite the appearance of chaos, the Trump administration and its allies are following a deliberate governing strategy designed to concentrate power, instill fear, and promote loyalty over the law.

But we've learned their playbook. And we have a counterstrategy. 

It starts with Congress. And in this election year, pressure on Congress matters more than ever. With the midterms coming up, Members of Congress are now more likely to listen and more likely to change their positions. 

Momentum is on our side, but we need everyone to stand up and turn that momentum into lasting pressure that will force our representatives to do the right thing. 

Right now, the executive branch is ignoring the balance of power our nation is founded on. 

It's time for us to tell Congress to take back its power and hold the executive branch accountable.

Change won't be easy, and it won't be fast, but together, we can build a better future.
