Hi there – and welcome to the new edition of the Berge Bulletin, your one-stop shop for what’s going on in the campaign and how you can get involved.

Before the holidays, I joined the Wisconsin Farmers Union state convention yesterday. It was a day filled with policy discussions, learning about the top issues facing farmers, and making connections with local farmers. The day was topped off with a fantastic meal made with local ingredients throughout the state, curated by Luke Zahm owner of Driftless Cafe.

I experienced Sparta Kriskindlmarkt for the first time and it was so much fun! What a great way to draw people to your community, showcase your small businesses, and bring people together. And despite it being it 2°, it was packed!

I visited the Wisconsin Rural Water Association in Portage County where I toured their facility and talked water. We talked a lot about PFAS, nitrates, lead in our water...how to prevent and how to treat...And what solutions are needed at the federal level.

After some down time over the holidays, it felt so good to get out on the trail again! I spent the night in Viroqua and the following morning had a conversation with neighbors at the kitchen table. We discussed the importance of Right to Repair for small businesses owners and farmers, how rural life is being gobbled up by big corporations, and how the establishment political parties are hard to trust.

Then it was off to Kickapoo Valley Reserve in La Farge for their winter festival! I ran into familiar faces, met new folks and had great visits with people.

After the Winter Festival, we had a pop up meet and greet at the Rockton Bar down the road. About 30 people showed up! Word of mouth spreads fast in these rural communities ❤️
