Dear Friend,
While most people were enjoying the holiday season last month, our investigations and legal teams were working with law enforcement to share the results of our fifth undercover operation of 2025 ([link removed]) , revealing the heartbreaking reality behind "family-run" raw milk dairy farms in upstate New York. Despite their pastoral public image, these farms conceal disturbing practices: cows chained so tightly they cannot turn around, animals with open wounds still being milked, and newborn calves separated from their mothers within hours of birth, all while celebrities and public figures promote these products as wholesome alternatives.
Just as 2025 was ending, two people fell ill after consuming raw milk from Country Cousins—one of the farms we investigated. The milk tested positive for dangerous Campylobacter bacteria—a danger we had warned state authorities about two weeks before the outbreak occurred. The farm was prohibited from selling raw milk until they could prove it's free of contamination. This outbreak confirms what our investigation already revealed: behind the wholesome marketing of these "family farms" lies not only animal suffering but serious risks to public health.
Would you help us make sure that cows suffering in these conditions get the justice they deserve?

What makes this investigation particularly powerful is how it demolishes the myth that small farms treat animals more humanely than industrial operations. The evidence shows that the same painful standard practices, such as tail docking, horn burning, castration, and electric shock devices, are implemented across the industry regardless of farm size. Even as raw milk advocates praise certain bacteria as beneficial, the FDA warns these same microorganisms indicate "poor animal health and poor farm hygiene."
Your support has made discoveries like these possible, allowing our team to document what the dairy industry desperately tries to hide from consumers. With each investigation, more people learn the truth: there is no humane way to produce dairy, regardless of a farm's size or marketing claims. The carefully curated tours and pastoral imagery serve only to mask systematic animal suffering that occurs daily behind closed doors.
Today, we're calling on you to become part of the solution to end this suffering. Your donation directly funds the specialized equipment, training, and field operations needed to conduct these high-impact investigations. Each contribution helps our investigators access more facilities, document more abuses, and bring more truth to light, all in an effort to create the evidence needed to drive meaningful change for these animals.

As we stick to our resolutions for 2026, ending the cruel treatment of cows at facilities like this is at the top of the list. Would you join us by making it your resolution to support our investigation work? Together, we can protect more animals from suffering and build momentum toward a more compassionate world where animals are no longer exploited for profit.
For the animals,
Ben Williamson
Executive Director
