Trump taunts allies with leaked texts, insane memes, and petty trash talk in late-night Greenland blitz
Welp, Granddad spent yet another night not sleeping, doing his damnedest to rip apart 80 years of global order with one stupid social media post after another. The wannabe dictator mocked stalwart allies, leaked private messages from world leaders (good luck having frank conversations with strategic partners ever again!), threatened Europe with more ridiculous tariffs, and taunted the Western Hemisphere with more AI-generated slop betraying his imperial obsessions. Can someone please put some down-time restrictions on Lord Goldemort's phone? Asking for a planet and eight billion or so friends.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: ICE agents drag unclothed, elderly US citizen from his home into freezing cold as DHS provides bullshit excuse for botched raid
Welcome to Trump's America, where the Donald's Temu Gestapo will kick in your door, point a loaded gun at your daughter-in-law's head, drag you outside in your underwear in 9-degree weather, and drive you around for an hour before unceremoniously dumping you back home again after they figure out you're actually a naturalized US citizen without so much as a "sorry."

Beloved Alaskan Mary Peltola upends the race for the US Senate with new campaign announcement
Mary Peltola for Alaska: Congresswoman Mary Peltola sent shockwaves through American politics when she won the only congressional seat in deep-red Alaska — now she’s running for the US Senate seat held by MAGA millionaire Dan Sullivan. With his approval rating in the dumpster at just 37%, a proven winner like Peltola with an Alaska First platform of “fish, family, and freedom” is just the candidate we need to flip this critical seat and retake the Senate. Will you chip in to help jump-start her campaign?
Ohio MAGA Sen. Jon Husted says American "work ethic is broken," blames affordability crisis on working class
With Americans facing a graver and graver affordability crisis as prices creep ever upward and wages stay stagnant, MAGA Senator Jon Husted wants ordinary folks to know they just aren't working hard enough. Husted claimed in a radio interview last week that America's "work ethic is broken" and that federal relief payments for working families exist to incentivize Americans to be lazy. Did you get that? The problem isn't runaway wealth inequality, decades of wage stagnation, the Republican Party's incessant fight against a federal living wage, or Trump's Big Bill of Bullshit — the largest redistribution of wealth TO the already obscenely wealthy in modern American history. Nope, it's your work ethic, ya lazy bum. The United States' social safety net doesn't help keep millions of struggling American families fed or afloat; it encourages them to be lazy!
Fun fact: American productivity has never been higher, and yet nearly three quarters of Americans are still living paycheck to paycheck. But don't think for a second that has anything to do with the concentration of wealth at the very top or Republicans' steadfast insistence on rewarding the 1% with even more tax cuts. Don't ask why Husted and his buddies have a million fresh cookies on their plates; ask yourself why you aren't willing to work harder for the single, stale one on yours.

Newsom roasts "pathetic" world leaders at Davos over Trump appeasement: "I should have brought knee pads"
Gavin Newsom went on offense yesterday, accusing both European and American leaders of looking "pathetic" for failing to stand up to Donald Trump as the MAGA cult leader continues banging his imperial drum with seeming impunity. The California governor, who is well-known for sending knee pads to politicians he believes have bowed down to America's wannabe dictator, joked that he should've "brought a bunch" with him to hand out at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "I can't take this complicity of people rolling over," Newsom told Sky News. "And I hope people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage."

Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego says Trump is "literally insane"
When CNN's Anderson Cooper asked if there was any real hope for European leaders to "de-escalate" and "reason with the president" over his repeated threats to annex Greenland, Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego did not mince his words. "No, and I’ve been very clear. He is a madman. He is insane. He’s only thinking about himself." Pressed by Cooper to expound, Gallego, a former Marine who lost his best friend during combat operations in Iraq, continued, "A leader that doesn't think first about peace has never experienced war. And it’s going to be a young woman or a young man that’s going to end up dying in Greenland because of a dumb man’s decision and a petty man’s decision to take care first of his ego instead of national security." A timely reminder that anyone in Trump's Cabinet is free to put the 25th Amendment on the table at any time.
Sean Hannity says US should give $100,000 to everyone in Greenland: "No-brainer"
Well, well, well. Look who's in favor of multi-billion-dollar taxpayer handouts to foreigners? Weird how these "America First" cheerleaders keep coming up with new ways to contort their way into alignment with Dear Leader's ramshackle whims! It's almost as if Hannity and Co. have no moral scruples or guiding principles that could possibly interfere with carrying Donald's incredibly filthy water. Almost.

US Catholic cardinals call on Trump administration to embrace a moral compass in foreign policy
The odds are honestly greater that we'll see Donald running a 10K race than suddenly finding his moral compass, but the foray into US foreign policy by American Catholic cardinals is noteworthy all the same.
Australian tightens its gun laws in wake of Bondi Beach massacre as US seeks to further loosen restrictions
Oh, hey. Would you look at that? A rational and reasonable response by Australian political leaders to an unspeakable tragedy that should not — and does not need to — ever happen again. What a novel idea. Meanwhile, back in Crazytown, USA, Donald Trump's Department of Justice is searching for new ways to make access to boom sticks and killing machines even easier. But, hey, it's like Charlie Kirk once said before he was fatally shot in the neck by a lone gunman armed with a sniper rifle: "It’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."
Doom and doomer
And in other news
Hope...
