Find out where your state landed in Everytown's 2026 Gun Law Rankings.
Big news—
We just released our updated Gun Law Rankings for 2026—an online tool where we score and rank every state on the strength of its gun laws and compare it with its rate of gun violence.
Here's the takeaway:
If every state had the gun death rates of our top ten states with the strongest gun safety laws, 262,000 lives could be saved over the next decade.
That's not hypothetical: the data shows a clear connection between stronger gun safety laws and fewer gun deaths.
In states where elected officials have taken action to pass gun safety laws, fewer people die by gun violence. The difference between action and inaction is clear.
So, see where District of Columbia stands—and what's possible in 2026 and beyond.
Together, we are taking on gun extremism and fighting for life-saving gun safety laws. We depend on contributions from supporters like you to power our movement for a future free from gun violence.
