Congress is approaching a critical deadline for Social Security and we need to hear from you.

That’s exactly what will happen if lawmakers in Washington continue to delay. For millions of seniors who rely on Social Security for most or all of their income in retirement, any cut to their earned benefits would be devastating.
At the same time, inflation continues to drive up the cost of groceries, housing, utilities and prescription drugs. Yet, Social Security benefits still fail to reflect the real cost of living older Americans like you face every day. |
That’s why Senator Brian Schatz (HI) has introduced the “Safeguarding American Families and Expanding Social Security Act” or “SAFE Social Security Act” (S. 3462), a commonsense solution that addresses both today’s inflation crisis and Social Security’s long-term future. |
Increase benefits immediately by an average of about $150 a month providing seniors real relief from rising costs
Strengthen Social Security’s solvency by asking the wealthy to pay their fair share into the program
Fix a broken Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) formula so benefits better keep up with inflation

Social Security has never missed a payment in the 90 years of its existence. But without action, across-the-board cuts are no longer hypothetical, they are a looming reality. |
That’s why I need you to take our one-question poll now. Your response will help the National Committee hold our elected officials accountable and fight for policies in Washington that will strengthen protections for seniors and the benefits you are counting on for a secure retirement.
