John,

Thank you for joining us in our pursuit of community-minded approaches to
data centers in 2025. Through your support, we’ve generated over 23,000
actions, including 1,200 phone calls to communities impacted by data
centers, like South Memphis.

This is the first campaign newsletter of many more to come. I won’t
belabor the point any further — we have big campaign news to share with
you to kick the new year off right!

The latest updates on our mission to build community and advocate for
responsible technology across the United States:

As we move into 2026, our national campaign is moving forward as Stop
Toxic Tech: Green the Grid.

[ [link removed] ]Stop Toxic Tech: Green the Grid is a community power and policy
accountability campaign focused on the rapid expansion of data center
infrastructure. As data centers and AI technologies grow across the
country, particularly in frontline communities, we work to ensure that
this growth does not come at the expense of public health, clean air and
water, or local decision-making.

Stop Toxic Tech names the problem. It calls attention to the pollution,
unchecked energy demand, and lack of transparency that communities are
facing as data center development accelerates. Green the Grid is the
solution. It reflects our vision for responsible, community-centered
technology that is powered by clean energy, governed by strong public
oversight, and shaped with meaningful community input.

This is not an anti-tech campaign. Stop Toxic Tech: Green the Grid is
about accountability, not opposition. We believe technology can and should
be built in ways that protect workers, respect communities, and safeguard
the planet. Our work advances clear standards, strong policies, and
community-driven solutions so innovation moves forward without leaving
people behind.

Midweek MythBuster webinar on February 25 at 5 pm ET/2 pm PT.

Protect the Environment from Unchecked AI

AI has been breaking all the rules — siphoning off our water and emitting
massive amounts of greenhouse gases. And now, under the SANDBOX Act, all
of it could become legal. That’s right: AI data center developers could
get a 10-year “get out of jail free” card to ignore bedrock protections
like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. We can’t let that happen.

[ [link removed] ]Tell your legislators to oppose the SANDBOX Act and to keep strong rules in
place to protect our air, water, and communities.

Support Clean Power-Driven AI, Not Pollution

Artificial intelligence needs an intelligent power source: clean energy.
Right now, massive data centers are driving up electricity demand,
reviving dirty fossil fuel plants, and pushing higher energy costs onto
households.

The Clean Cloud Act flips the script. It ensures AI companies invest in
clean, efficient power so innovation strengthens our grid, protects our
climate, and lowers energy costs — instead of draining people’s paychecks.

[ [link removed] ]Tell your Senator to support the Clean Cloud Act and make clean energy the
backbone of AI.
