Actions for the week of January 19, 2026

Welcome to 2026, Activists!

The year is young and the news may be daunting already. As we have learned from showing up time and again, though, actions (however small) let us harness stress and move forward with hope and — especially collectively — power. Let’s keep it going with this week’s actions!

Action 1

🛢️🫷🐋 No offshore drilling — anywhere.

Trump’s Department of the Interior was considering a new plan to lease waters off Alaska, the Gulf, California, and more. Their goal, as ever, is to reward their fossil fuel paymasters with maximum profits, while the rest of America suffers with higher prices, pollution, and climate chaos.

Thousands of climate hawks have already signed petitions opposing drilling off the coast of Alaska, California, and the Gulf South. But Trump’s plan is barreling ahead this holiday season despite the opposition from local and national climate hawks, with comments now due January 23, 2026 — and only one way to submit them.

We’re going to fight back talon and claw to stop Trump’s offshore drilling plans nationwide, but we need your help to gather comments NOW.

Action 2

☠️🏭👷 EPA: It’s time to force power plants to finally clean up their toxic waste.

Coal plants produce millions of tons of toxic coal ash a year. Hard-won regulations specify how they must clean it up. Now the Trump administration wants to give them a pass to pollute instead.

Instead of following through on previous commitments to force coal companies to clean up and close toxic coal ash ponds, Trump’s EPA is proposing to allow these facilities to continue polluting groundwater and operating past their planned retirement dates. This would prolong dangerous levels of exposure for the drinking water, lakes, rivers, and streams of communities living near dump sites.

Send a message to the Environmental Protection Agency: No more delays. Time to force power plants to finally clean up their toxic waste.

Action 3

📣⚖️✋ Congress: Investigate all ICE-related deaths now!

Silverio Villegas González in Chicago. Jaime Alanís Garcia and Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdez in California. Renee Nicole Good Minneapolis. These are just a few names of people killed by ICE.

ICE is establishing a pattern of violence and brutal use of force — and people are dying as a result.

Congress created ICE. Congress funds ICE. Congress has a responsibility to subpoena evidence, require testimony under oath, and fully investigate to hold ICE accountable.

Send a message demanding your members of Congress investigate all ICE-related deaths NOW.
