It's been over a month since the Democratic primary concluded, and we can finally congratulate each of our endorsed candidates on their hard-won victories.
This was an unprecedented election year with incredible challenges, and we are so thrilled our diverse and progressive slate of candidates performed so well! These include incumbents who have proven their devotion to public service as well as young Democrats who inspired us with their vision.
We look forward to working with Rep. Yvette Clarke on the issues that matter most to us in Washington. We can't wait to see what Assemblymember Diana Richardson, Stefani Zinerman, and Emily Gallagher are able to accomplish in Albany with their incredible victories.
The primary also marked a significant victory for transparency and accountability in the Brooklyn Democratic Party. District Leaders are our elected representatives in the party. District Leaders elect the party chair and choose local judicial candidates. We are excited by the victories of Kristina Naplatarski,Jesse Pierce, and Samuel Nemir-Olivares, amazing young Democrats who are committed to progressive reform.
According to The New York Times, "the primary wins underscored the generational shift unfolding in Albany."
We agree. These victories are the result of the dynamic energy and enthusiasm of young people. Thank you so much for knocking on doors with us before the pandemic, making calls from home in recent weeks, and urging your friends and family to request an absentee ballot. Together we are going to make Brooklyn a better, fairer, and more just home.
