John,
We are spending today honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for the 40th time in our nation's history.
We're also celebrating his legacy at the very moment when the Voting Rights Act, the seminal achievement of the Civil Rights Movement, is on the chopping block at a Supreme Court dominated by MAGA.
The fight for equal access to the ballot and our fundamental right to vote was at the core of Dr. King's mission. In his own words:
“Give us the ballot, and we will no longer have to worry the federal government about our basic rights... Give us the ballot, and we will transform the salient misdeeds of bloodthirsty mobs into the calculated good deeds of orderly citizens.”
You're going to hear a lot of opponents of voting rights mouthing platitudes today. Then you'll hear them wrongly insist the 14th and 15th Amendments prohibit Congress from taking race into account to remedy past discrimination.
MAGA is actively bastardizing our history, their judges ignoring the original meaning of the post-Civil War Amendments and overriding 60 years of precedent, and as a movement, they are destroying Dr. King’s most important achievement.
Our fight is the same as Dr. King's, because the work is never done. Please chip in $35 or whatever you can today to help us protect voting rights nationwide >> [[link removed]]

Dr. King’s fight for civil rights and economic opportunity were his best-known crusades, but he recognized voting rights as the guarantor of both. As President Barack Obama often noted, King’s “ arc of the moral universe … does not bend towards justice on its own. It depends on us. ”
That "us" wasn't just the 60's Civil Rights Movement. That "us" isn't just our elected officials, or former presidents, or organizations like ours. That "us" means everyone, every citizen of our country, standing up for our fundamental rights.
There are countless comparisons to be made between the actions of MAGA and President Trump now and the oppression of our past. The very same oppression Dr. King fought has remade itself into a modern movement that's deploying armed federal agents into our cities and threatening our access to the ballot and methods of voting.
Just like Dr. King, we refuse to stand idly by. Help us fight back with $35 or whatever you can to defend the use of vote-by-mail, increase voter participation, and make every vote count in November and beyond >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
Your support is crucial to our efforts. Will you donate today to help us protect voting rights? [[link removed]]
