Team,

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — an important law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination in employment, public accommodations, and access to government programs.

As a council member for the Minnesota Council on Disability, re-appointed by Governor Walz, the passage of the ADA means a great deal to me. I have sat with and listened to people with disabilities, and I can’t imagine what life would have looked like for them without it.

For years people in the disability community and their families needlessly struggled to get by without resources or protections. The ADA provides many necessary protections, but people with disabilities are still fighting the government for full equality.

Many disabilities are considered pre-existing conditions, and Republicans like Pete Stauber want to take away healthcare protections that bar companies from turning away people with pre-existing conditions.

I need your help getting to Congress so people with disabilities don’t have to keep fighting so hard for the protections they deserve. Will you donate $30 for the 30th anniversary of the ADA to help me win this fight?
