And how to send aid to Minneapolis families impacted by ICE

Dear Friend,
I’m writing with a heavy heart and clear calls to action as we continue to mourn the lives of those killed by ICE both in our neighborhoods and in detention centers across the country.
This moment calls for clarity and collective action.
As I said in my recent statement, ICE’s terror is anything but rogue. The agency is operating exactly as it’s designed to and as it has for decades, only now with a record-high level of resources and unfettered power.
Now, it is up to every person of conscience to resist, disrupt, and reject Trump and Stephen Miller’s agenda of mass deportation, detention, family separation, and deadly military-style invasions of the places we call home.
Congress is now advancing a new appropriations funding bill that would significantly expand immigration enforcement and detention. This is on top of the already astronomical and record-setting amount of money it currently funds ICE and Customs and Border Protection.
Our friends at Detention Watch Network have a tool that you can use to quickly tell your member of congress to reject more funding for ICE’s violence:
Let’s be clear: Defunding ICE is only a first step in our ultimate mission of abolishing the agency and ending the practices of incarceration and deportations altogether. This is an important first step, as the number of dollars in ICE’s pocket helps determine the number of agents, detention beds, and deportation flights available to the agency.
This tool only takes a few minutes to make your voice heard.
I also hope you’ll consider supporting those on the ground in Minneapolis, where communities continue to face an unprecedented invasion by federal forces. Below, you’ll find a collection of GoFundMe’s created for families whose loved ones have been abducted, compiled by MN ICE Watch. Please consider supporting those directly impacted by ICE terror with your wallets:
