Hi John!
Despite all that is going on in the world today, we at SV DSA hope that you have been able to find at least some peace and rest while ushering in the new year. 2025 was a big year for us: our membership grew to over 650 comrades strong and we made many strides together. We successfully campaigned for both Measure A and Prop 50, supported the Starbucks Workers United strikes, held Rapid Response Network volunteer trainings and immigrant rights canvasses, successfully pressured Santa Clara County to divest from Chevron, put on the Free Store, hosted Garden Days, organized clothing swaps, had educational sessions with DSA 101 and Socialist Night School, got together with our fellow comrades for Friday Socials and the Holiday Party, and participated in countless marches and rallies to demand justice and fight for change. The action does not stop there. As we already rapidly move through 2026, we have much to plan and look forward to, and we hope you will continue to be there alongside us.
As for our upcoming January Chapter Meeting, there's much on the agenda, which you can find here. We will hear statements on our Chapter's response to Trump's regime change in Venezuela and the increased state violence by ICE. We will also have a Red Talk on how we can organize for a General Strike on May Day 2028. There will be several votes held, including voting on a resolution that would allow attendees and membership to propose goals and build the 2026-2027 Strategic Plan at SV DSA's March 2026 Convention, voting on a proposition to charter a new Transit Working Group, and voting on proposals for SV DSA to officially endorse the Redwood City Fair and Affordable Housing Ordinance and the Connect Bay Area Measure (SB63). Finally, we will hear updates from our Working Groups and Committees, including the need for new co-chairs in the Electoral WG and International Solidarity WG and the open vacancy in the Steering Committee. Be sure to come through on Saturday January 24, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at 2302 Zanker Rd or via Zoom. RSVP below.
In Solidarity,
SV DSA
