Any day now, the Supreme Court could rule to gut the Voting Rights Act, erasing decades of hard-fought progress.
Friend, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are reminded that the right to vote was not freely granted, but won through sacrifice, courage, and unwavering perseverance.
Dr. King marched, organized, and risked his life so that every American, no matter the color of their skin or background, could have an equal voice in our democracy. Yet today, that hard-fought progress is under greater threat than ever.
At any moment, the Supreme Court could issue a ruling that undermines Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act – one of the most important pieces of legislation to emerge from the civil rights movement.
If SCOTUS weakens these protections, it would make it even easier for states, particularly in the South, to redraw their congressional maps to strip political power from communities of color.
That's why Attorney General Letitia James is speaking out now.
Letitia has always stood up for free and fair elections, and believes The People, not politicians, should decide who their elected representatives are. But she needs to show that people across the country are with her. On this day, will you join AG James in honoring Dr. King's legacy by fighting for our voting rights?

Thank you.
