Team,
Today we celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act -- a landmark piece of legislation that prohibits discrimination based on disability and works to make sure peope with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as anyone else.
Thanks to this legislation, we have made remarkable strides in the fight for disability rights -- requiring government buildings to have ramps, elevators, and designated parking spots, accomodations for people with a range of disabilities, lifts for wheelchairs on public buses, and so much more.
And I am proud to say that during my time as North Township Trustee, my office supported mobility and accessibility in our communities by providing transportation to thousands of individuals with disabilities. I have consistently made every effort to listen to the needs and concerns of people with disabilities and seniors and have always sought to find solutions and ensure that everyone has the information and resources they need.
Despite all this progress, the fight for equity for people with disabilities is far from over. People with disabilities continue to face obstacles in regards to the job market, struggle to find accessible and affordable housing, and have higher rates of poverty and incarceration.
As your next Congressman, I will continue to work to support and advance the ADA and promote the ability of all individuals to have good-paying job opportunities and expanded access to public transportation options.
Friend, thank you for being in this fight and being a part of my team. Can I count on you to contribute $15 now to help me get to Congress so I can continue our fight for disability rights?
Thanks friend!
