John, Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the timeless principle that every person, regardless of race, background, or national origin, is equal. |
Miami is one of the most diverse communities in the country. From Little Havana to Overtown, our neighborhoods were shaped by countless cultures and identities. That diversity is not just part of who we are. It's what makes us stronger, more compassionate, and more resilient.
Yet today, too many of our neighbors are under attack. Aggressive ICE enforcement has torn through our communities, separating families, and spreading fear.
Dr. King challenged us to reject systems that dehumanize and to stand with those who are most vulnerable. That means speaking out. It means showing up. And it means protecting the rights of every person who calls Miami home.
Together, we can honor Dr. King’s legacy by continuing the work he began, and keep our community free from division, fear, and hate. — Richard Lamondin |
