Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but it is important to
understand what this day means.
Dr. King did not just dream. He fought. He organized. He marched for
justice and against poverty, racism, and war. King understood that real
change does not come from waiting around, but from everyday people
demanding it.
MLK Day is not just a day of remembrance. It’s a call to action.
Right now, working families are struggling to afford basic needs. Families
are being torn apart by violence. Safety net programs are being cut due to
corporate greed. The issues that MLK gave his life for are still here.
But here’s the truth: MLK’s movement did not die with him. It exists in
every person who refuses to accept injustice and inequality. In those
organizing their communities and in every act of resistance – big or
small.
Today, we remember Dr. King by continuing his fight.
We honor him by standing up for economic justice for the working class,
protecting the right to vote, and fighting for a country that works for
all of us.
“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice,” and
we are the ones who have to bend it.
