[link removed] [[link removed]] John, As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, I’ve been thinking about the courage it takes to keep going — even when progress feels slow, when opposition is loud, and even when the work is hard.
Dr. King reminded us that change doesn’t come from silence or comfort. It comes from everyday people choosing justice and compassion time and again, even when the road ahead is uncertain.
John, our country stands at a precipice. Across the nation — including right here in Ohio — we’re seeing unprecedented attacks on voting rights and democratic participation.
That’s why I’ve made protecting voting rights a core part of my work in Congress. I’ve co-sponsored voting rights legislation to expand access to the ballot, combat voter suppression, curb dark money, and ensure every American — no matter where they live — can have their voice heard and their vote counted.
On this day of reflection, I believe Dr. King’s legacy calls us not just to remember his words, but to act on them. Democracy is not self-sustaining; it requires courage, vigilance, and collective action. Progress is never guaranteed, but built through everyday choices and daily actions rooted in justice, service, and compassion.
Thank you for taking a moment to reflect with me and honor Dr. King’s memory. May we all reaffirm our commitment to leading with love, serving our communities, fighting for justice, and creating a better nation for generations to come.
With gratitude and hope,
